Taneka Washington was born in Harbor City, California and grew up in Carson.  She obtained her BA in Psychology and Art History form Occidental College in Eagle Rock, CA.

She finds her inspiration from traveling, and has traveled to fourteen different countries using her camera to document her adventures and preserve fleeting moments of beauty. In 2005 she had a solo art exhibition at the Mary Clapp Library at Occidental College for her paintings.

She is currently working on her Masters in Art History at California State University, Los Angeles and was recently accepted for a three-month internship at the Peggy Guggenheim Museum in Venice, Italy.
