Since 1991, Ridge has made zinfandel from the old Pagani vineyard on the east-facing side of Sonoma Valley.  Almost all the vines in this vineyard were planted more than on hundred years ago. Pagani Ranch is a fine example of a great vineyard: low-yielding old vines, carefully tended by a quality-conscious family who have worked the land for four generations.

Lot includes a 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 bottle.

Tasting notes on the 2001 bottle describe a melange of plum/cherry/boysenberry in the nose, with undertones of mineral/damp gravel, cedar, citrus and mint. Fruit flavors repeat in the mouth; notes of clove, pepper, toasted oak.  Good acid/tannin balance and a lingering finish.
