We built our Cabana in 2008 to serve as a home for visiting family and friends. It is located adjacent to our home and was built to harmonize with the main house with matching cedar siding and sited to take advantage of our mountain views. It has a number of special touches, including an all tile bath with a very large shower with a window which has tree and sky views. The kitchen counter top is beautiful granite. There is a deck in a small grove of oak trees with one tree coming through the deck with a bench and chairs that provides a lovely outdoor living space extension. A professional decorator supervised the interior design with the aim-we think it was achieved- of creating a tranquil environment.

The property is located in Madrone Canyon, one of the premier neighborhoods in southern Marin County; Madrone Avenue which leads to our street winds through a magical redwood grove. The neighborhood is very quiet and at night we usually have a star filled sky. The town of Larkspur on the east slope of Mt. Tam has several excellent restaurants, many shops, and interesting walking paths. The shops and restaurants are close enough to walk to from the cabana as are hiking and biking trails on King Mountain and Mt. Tamalpais. You can literally walk out our door and hike over the mountain to the coast if you want. Although almost rural in feeling we are located just 10 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge, and San Francisco is a mere 30 minute drive, or a short ferry ride away; the ferry terminal is just minutes from us. Sausalito is just minutes south, the Wine Country of Napa and Sonoma is less than an hour north, and Muir Woods and Stinson Beach are only 20-30 minutes away.

When we realized that there would be periods of time when family and friends would not be needing the Cabana we decided to offer it for short term rentals. For a couple seeking a private and quiet home away from home ideally located adjacent to San Francisco and convenient to all the many attractions of the greater Bay Area, we think our Cabana will be ideal.


We have found that visiting grandparents love staying in our cabana while they are visiting grown children and their grandchildren.

There are literally 200 miles of trails right out your door.
