Two admissions to one of Coriolis's 2010 holiday concert: Sunday, December 12, 2010 in Grayslake or Saturday, December 18, 2010 in Evanston.
Coriolis was formed to provide classical choral music enthusiasts the opportunity to sing challenging a cappella compositions in a skilled, dedicated, high quality chamber ensemble. While the group’s repertoire extends from 16th century madrigals and sacred music to world premieres of 21st century classical compositions the singers have a special affinity for works of the late 19th, 20th and 21st centuries by composers such as Francis Poulenc, Ralph Vaughan-Williams, Benjamin Britten, Aaron Copland, Morton Lauridsen, Eric Whitacre, Ned Rorem, and their contemporaries. The ensemble’s repertoire also includes compositions by local Chicago composers, arrangers, and musicians; Coriolis has a lengthy and ongoing relationship with Chicago composer Bob Applebaum (now in California) premiering many of his newest creations over the last decade.
The members of Coriolis have performed extensively in various vocal ensembles: the Chicago Symphony Chorus, the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, Bella Voce, the Choral Ensemble of Chicago, the Classic Chorale, the North Shore Choral Society, Christmas Spirit, Hearing Voices, Blind Man’s Bluff, Four Shadow, and numerous college glee clubs and chorales.
