Description

Most of us don’t pay much attention to the mundane objects we use every day, like the twist ties that hold the plastic wrap on our bread together or the aluminum foil that we wrap our leftovers in. Using thousands of the throw away items at her disposal, Rachel Perry Welty takes these ordinary items and creates works of art with texture, complexity and meaning. Rachel’s work is in the permanent collections of several museums and has been shown at leading galleries and museums throughout the country, from the MFA in Boston to San Francisco. Rachel was a recent MacDowell Colony Fellow, two-time winner of a Massachusetts Cultural Council grant for excellence in Sculpture and Drawing, and finalist for the Foster Prize, Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston. Upcoming solo shows include “Rachel Perry Welty 24/7” at DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, Lincoln, Mass., January - April 2011.

Join Rachel for a conversation and private tour of her works in progress in either her Annisquam or Manhattan studio. Successful bidder will select a mutually convenient date within one year of auction close.
