In 2006 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and did a round of chemotherapy and radiation. It was a battle that I fought and won until the spring of 2009 when I was diagnosed with Uterine Cancer. I underwent surgery and had a full hysterectomy, followed by radiation treatments. Now I am undergoing chemotherapy again. Once this is completed, I will wait to see how the treatments have worked. I am optimistic, but now face many financial obstacles. Facing cancer is difficult enough, but we are rarely prepared for the financial burden that comes with a lengthy recovery period. Our health insurance, alone, is never enough.
Fortunately, I was told about The Pegasus Project, an organization founded by flight attendants for flight attendants. They raise money for flight attendants within The Association of Flight Attendants who are terminally or critically ill or injured, then provide grants to members who meet the criteria.
I have benefited greatly by their financial assistance and emotional support, but soon I will reach my lifetime allowance. Knowing that my grant will soon come to an end I was not sure where to turn next. The Pegasus Administrator told me about the Specific Grant Allocation Program that allows flight attendants to make tax deductible donations that are specifically allocated for my assistance. At first, I just couldn’t imagine agreeing to this, but now I am convinced that I need to do whatever I can to allow myself the time necessary to fight this battle without the added burden of financial ruin in the process. I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this, and for your consideration in participating in this fundraiser. Hope to see you on the line again soon!
Sincerely,
Barbara Reedhead
Barbara has reached the lifetime maximum distribution of $5,000.00, but is still battling cancer and in need of financial assistance. Pegasus has set up a specific grant allocation for her, which allows individuals to make donations that will go directly to Barbara through Pegasus.
The donors receive a tax deduction and Barbara will continue to receive financial support while she continues to receive treatment.
Special Instructions
The Pegasus Project provides assistance to flight attendants up to a lifetime maximum of $5000 per individual. Once an individual has reached their lifetime maximum the Pegasus Project can continue to help support those in need with a Specific Grant Allocation. Specific Grant Allocation donations are tax deductable. Thank you for your generosity.
