We have been carrying on a California ranching tradition since1991on our ranch in San Juan Bautista and other ranches we lease in the area. In 2006, we formed a limited partnership with Everett Sparling, whose family has been ranching in San Benito County since the 19th century.

Joe's grandfather, J.J. Baumgartner, ran cattle on the land before we moved here in 1991. J.J. came to San Benito County in 1927 after growing up and ranching on the Santa Margarita Ranch in Southern CA., now known as Camp Pendleton. Joe's great-great grand father, Richard O'Neill, started as a butcher in San Francisco in 1850.

We are happy to continue offering fine beef to our family and friends, while learning about good land stewardship and working to produce a biologically rich landscape and clean water on the ranches we manage. Our cattle enjoy our ancient skills of stockmanship, a completely organic diet of fresh grass, legumes and water daily. We do not use any synthetic hormones or feed antibiotics.
