Description
If you love the North Country, you’ll love TAUNY!
Traditional Arts in Upstate New York is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people understand and appreciate the folk traditions and local culture of everyday life--present and past--in the North Country. To do so, TAUNY seeks to research and preserve a record of diverse groups, customs and traditions; to recognize and empower traditional arts and artists; to identify and promote regional identity; and to provide opportunities for people of all ages to learn about folklore and local culture.
For almost 25 years TAUNY has been collecting, documenting, preserving, interpreting, presenting, and celebrating the folk culture and traditional arts of the North Country. As a nonprofit organization, TAUNY relies on the generosity of our members to enable us to offer award-winning programs and services including: research, exhibits, events, awards, partnerships, resources, archives, and the North Country Folkstore (representing over 100 local artisans).
Membership support serves as a vital source of income and a demonstration to state and federal agencies, foundations, and businesses that our very own North Country community supports TAUNY.
