Reflections of a Peacemaker: A Portrait Through Heartsongs is the final collection of Heartsongs that Mattie was working on when he died in 2004 and edited by his mother, Jeni. It includes the last poem Mattie penned along with a special collection of unpublished poetry, photographs, and artwork spanning the decade from when he began writing Heartsongs at age three. The 240 page hardcover book was released in August 2005 and is signed by  President Jimmy Carter, MDA National Chairman Jerry Lewis, Poet Maya Angelou, Recording Artist Christopher Cross, TV Personality Larry King, Telethon co-host Jann Carl and “Mattie’s Mom” Jeni Stepanek.
