Stefan Baumann was brought up in Lake Tahoe, California, His parents were of Swiss and Bavarian heritage; his mother who was both a business woman and homemaker, instilled in him the importance of diligent work and of staying dedicated to his aspirations; His father, a bakery owner, nurtured Baumann's love of the arts. It was Baumann's parents who played a crucial role in sparking his passion for painting, travel, and teaching. While studying art and architectural history on scholarship at Stanford University, Stefan worked as a private painting teacher. Upon relocating to San Francisco in 1980 he started Baumann Fine Art, an endeavor that showcased his love for landscape painting. "The Grand View", a dynamic public television series that promotes environmental awareness and outdoor painting was the culmination of Baumann's vision and his appreciation for all of the elements of Nature. Baumann has been featured in People magazine and his works are in the collections of the Rockefellers, Annenburgs, and former President Reagan. He also creates original works for Leanin' Tree Publications. He still lives in San Francisco and has a studio in Saratoga.
