Description

What an opportunity to own a signed Schreckengost print-generously donated by Mrs. Viktor Schreckengost.

"Severance Hall," a lithograph measuring  17-3/4" H x 24" L, and signed in pen by the artist Viktor Schreckengost as Number 41/100, was created in 1980 as one of a series of Cleveland scenes.

Set on a snowy winter's evening, "Severance Hall" evokes the excitement of the concert-goers as they ascend the steps through the frosty air into the golden warmth of the magnificent hall.

If you are a fan of the Cleveland Orchestra, a fan of Cleveland architecture, or a fan of Cleveland, this wonderful print is for you. Give it a prominent place in your home or office.

Gorgeous!

The print is signed by the artist. It is in fine condition and is framed in a temporary frame to protect it.

A national treasure and Cleveland hero, Viktor Schreckengost, who died in 2008 at the age of 101, was internationally known for his body of industrial design, sculpture, ceramics, and paintings.  He designed Murray pedal cars and bicycles, Salem china designs, and the first cab-over-engine truck, among many, many others.  Feted by the Cleveland Museum of Art in 2000 with a one man show, Viktor's centennial year was celebrated nationally with over 100 exhibitions of his work in 2006. In addition to the National Medal of Arts, which he received from President George Bush in 2006, Mr. Schreckengost earned the highest honor of the American Institute of Architects. Schreckengost's personal archive was given to Cleveland State University in September, and his work has inspired a number of recent collaborative ventures.

Our thanks to Mrs. Viktor Schreckengost.
