Description

Providence, RI-based artist Nilton Cardenas studied journalism and painting in his native Lima, Peru.  His work has been the subject of solo and group shows in both the United States and Spain.

His work, which is found in both private and corporate collections, reflects an inward search for his native origin as it releases his creativity. It's a spiritual rebirth, a liberating reawakening.

Nilton is a member of the board of the Sol Gallery, which promotes Latino art and culture. He teaches art to children in Providence. He has worked in schools and summer camps, before- and after-school programs, and with City Arts, Dorcas Place, the Greater Providence "Y", Urban League, Hispanic heritage Society Museum, RISD, the Providence Safe Smart Program and the Providence School District.
