Description
Elegance in design and detail.
This 9" x 11" shadow box holds a quilled Copltic Cross crafted by award winning quiller Kay Charles, Lancaster, PA.
Quilling is the delicate art of rolling and shaping thin strips of paper and arranging them to form designs. Quilling is thought to date back to the 15th century. The technique was first used to embellish religous plaques and relics. At that time, paper was rolled on bird quills; thus, the name quilling.
The Coptic Cross is usually devoid of a corpus and includes the distinctive trefoil - a stylized cross, common in heraldry as well as Christian iconography.
