This large, original  painting of a winter scene near a woods measures 37.5" x 27.5". The artist, Grace T. Steinmetz (d. 2004), from the Lancaster, PA area, signed the piece.

The work is matted and under glass.

The stark winter scene invites the viewer to slow down, stop and share a quiet moment with it. The undercurrent of gentle longing just below the surface meaning of the sparse snowy setting is beautifully evocative, and infuses the painting with a meloncholy that plays off the quiet of the woods and the far distant, empty horizon.
