Description
Live the Big Chill! Weekend house in upstate NY for July 4, 2011
Equidistant from Margaretville and Andes, two popular and thriving upstate villages (both of which are frequently featured in the New York Times), and down the road from friendly neighbors and a lively summer camp--a sprawling, comfortable, fully-furnished house for you and your crew.
Spend an unforgettable weekend in New York State’s Delaware County (with kids, friends, friends with kids...) hiking, reading, antiquing, or just driving around aimlessly looking for yard sales. Funky five-bedroom turn of the century vacation house on nine-plus acres in the Catskill Mountains has a tin-lined kitchen with woodstove, living room, dining room, study, mudroom, two bathrooms, two working fireplaces (useful even in summer–the nights are cool), and huge wraparound porch. House also includes washing machine and dryer, brand new French door fridge, fully-stocked pantry, DVD player, slightly (okay, very) out-of-tune baby grand piano, and more books of every description than can possibly be read in one lifetime. Property features pretty perennial beds, an herb garden, and a stand of lilacs; there’s a barbecue for cookouts, a trampoline, a hammock, and two refurbished ‘50s porch gliders for naps or reading the paper. Frequent butterfly and hummingbird sightings and gorgeous mountain views included.
Available in 2011 for the Fourth of July long weekend, when the carnival is in town and a neighboring village holds its annual summer fair.
Spectacular fireworks display in Margaretville on July 4th will entice you into packing a blanket and staking out your spot to watch! Other local attractions: a nearby farmers’ market in an historic round barn, a first-class supermarket, a plethora of antiques shops and art galleries, a popular auction house – everything you need for a memorable escape from the city.
