The Dance Theatre of Harlem is a Community school of the allied arts which offers extensive courses in music, dance, costuming and theatre to all who would enter; from pre-school children to senior citizens.

It is also profoundly more than that:

• Non-political and un-ethnic, it is proving that classical ballet is universal-because the school is really about love in all its myriad styles and manifestations.


• It is about the fulfillment of the deprived child and the contentment of a senior citizen


• It is about returning the arts to the people to whom they belong and in perceiving them as necessary to daily life as they always should have been


• It is about the aristocracy of man - the marriage of the incontestable nobility of the Watusi with the rarified aristocracy of the court of Louix XIV.

And it is about all that we will have to be if we hope to preserve our civilization.
