Delta Classroom Art - Thunderbird Plate and Thundereggs

Item Number: 276
Time Left: CLOSED

Description
The Delta class painted the Thunderbird plate to match the beautiful colors of the Thundereggs. On the plate, there are eight decorative triangles representing eight students. The students learned about the Legend of the Thunderegg, Oregon’s state rock.
The legend is written on the back.
“According to Native American Legend, when thunderstorms occurred, the rival Thunder Spiritson Mount Hood and Mount Jefferson were throwing Thundereggs at each other, scattering them over the plateaus. They got them from the nests of Thunderbirds.”
All of the Thundereggs are matching pairs and were found at the “Blue Bed” in Richardson, Oregon. They are cut and polished and have intricate, detailed patterns. One of them even looks like the United States.
The thundereggs were donated by Tom Yard.
