Instrumentalists with at least a year of experience can learn the basics of improvisation in a jazz combo setting. We’ll study scales and chords. We’ll play swing, blues and Latin jazz standards, create our own arrangements, and study the classic recording of jazz masters. This course is open to students who play band or string instruments, piano, drums, bass or guitar. Having your own instrument will be necessary in most cases, but borrowing may be possible.
