Description

Mr. Bernard’s 2nd graders set out to be photographers over the Thanksgiving holiday. The Focus was Color! The Definition was Broad! The Vision was Theirs!

The assignment for the aspiring photographers included making nine photographs focusing on three colors and making one self portrait. They were asked to fill the frame and find inspiration in their surroundings. The results are extraordinary. Their work was edited and then used to create a unique astonishingly colorful abstract composite photograph that takes on a dreamy surreal feeling. A polaroid transfer filter was applied simulating the effect of using Polaroid color peel-apart films and transferring the nascent image to paper before being fully developed.

Each individual image in this composite is an expression of the 2nd grade artist who made it. Collectively their images are a remarkable expression of an enriching experience.

The final result is a large 32” x 32” color photograph professionally printed on matte fine art archival photographic paper professionally framed.

Special thanks to parents Sam Deaner and Chris Lee for coordinating, funding and leading this project.
