About "The Mission Door":
In 1995, the Wylie Fox Publications, Phone Book Company came to my studio and asked me to create a painting that symbolized all that was wonderful about Sonoma County. This painting is the result of that request.
In the heart of Sonoma you will find an adobe church, a crescent moon hanging above cabernet fields with deer under live oaks that have been here for as long as the Unites States has existed. Purple in story telling is traditionally the color that represents the divine in life. A purple curtain is separating the viewer from the wine country, and for a moment, it has been pulled aside, signifying that the wine country is truly a magical place that allows our visitor to relax and enjoy life in a profound way.
