When Joe Pepitone signed with the New York Yankees in 1962, the carefree, fun-loving first baseman spent his $20,000 signing bonus on a fancy new car and a motorboat. After beating out Moose Skowron for the first base job, the Yankees traded Skowron before the 1963 season. Pepitone responded by having the best year of his career, as he hit .271, with 27 home runs and 89 RBI that season!
