You most likely have wi-fi connectivity in your home and place of business. You can find hot spots at the library, coffee shop, and even the nearest fast food joint. The one place you may not find this kind of accessibility is in your Hillsborough Schools! The District has invested in wireless technology in the past and there are targeted places at each of our schools that are equipped for wi-fi, but stray away from these hot spots and the signal is lost. Parent Groups, HSF, School Site Councils, and the District have made continuous investments in portable devices students can use to research, explore, and interact with the web under the guidance and direction of teachers, but students may currently only do so in defined places. The lack of wireless connectivity is also a limiting factor to the number of technological devices we can put in the hands of students. Ironically, due to the architecture of the school, the site where we need wireless technology the most, Crocker Middle School, is the site where connectivity is most sorely lacking. Your participation in "Connected Campuses" will allow us to install 100% connectivity on all of our sites, allowing us to unlock the full potential of technology we already own and paving the way for future technological advances. This Fund-A-Need will create the infrastructure that will allow continued state-of-the-art innovation to give our students the tools they need to prepare them for an ever-changing world.
