Cincinnatians had a long love affair with their Island Queen, the paddle-wheeler that carried so many out to Coney for years.

But the excursion steamer met its end one night in 1947 when a welding torch ignited an explosion that burned her to the water line. Cincinnatians mourned the loss of the boat that epitomized summer in the Queen City.
