Aquavit is a Scandinavian drink often used at celebrations.  The potato is the raw material; caraway and other herbs complete the flavorings.  Aquavit is most frequently served with beer; it is said to ease the digestion when eating a heavy meal.  It is delicious kept in the freezer, decanted into a decorative flask, and consumed out of small glasses.  The Norwegian “Linie” product is famous for crossing the equator twice maturing in casks made of sherrywood.  This bottle can be tracked at www.linie.com.
