Description
Two season tickets for CSUSB's Play Series: Bette Davis Speaks, The Leopard, and Southern Comforts.
Bette Davis Speaks by Dan Gordon. Bette Davis Speaks starring Linda Gray of TV's Dallas opens Thursday, January 27 and continues every Thursday through Sunday. For twenty years, journalist Boze Hadleigh interviewed the Hollywood legend and the result was a gossipy, wise, funny and ultimately moving, guilty pleasure known as Bette Davis Speaks. That book has now been adopted for the stage by playwright and screenwriter, Dan Gordon. From her famous feud with Joan Crawford to her delightfully wicked comments on her contemporaries Clark Gable and Ronald Reagan, Bette Davis Speaks is sure to be one of the most delightful evenings you will spend in the theater this year.
The Leopard by Yabo Yablonski. The Leopard opens Monday, January 31 and continues every Monday through Wednesday. In this one-man play is a fiction in two acts; Ernest Hemingway remembers and evaluates his life and career, the triumphs and joys as well as the darker aspects that made him one of the world's premier writers. Throughout this rum-fueled last night of his life, Hemingway looks hard at his peers, friends, wives and work during his time in Paris, Madrid, England, Africa and Cuba while his hardest gaze is directed at himself.
Southern Comforts by Kathleen Clark. Southern Comforts opens Friday, April15 and runs for two weekends; Fridays and Saturdays only. Called "a delightful, even sneakily sexy, romance" by The New York Times, Southern Comforts is a romantic comedy about the journey of a widow and widower who meet later in life and find a way into eachother's hearts. Told with warmth and perspective humor, this off-Broadway success is an affecting, late-in-life journey of compromise and rejuvenation, of personal risk and the rewards of change.
