Description

The quilters of Gee's Bend, Alabama, have developed their own patterns, and the design of each quilt reflects the vision of a singular artist. This “Lazy Gal” quilt design was created by Quinnie Pettway from an array of lovely hand-dyed cotton pieces. It was then painstakingly quilted by our very own Vicky Curtiss, who put in 15 hours of labor! At 52 x 62 inches, it's a great size for a wall hanging, a child's nap blanket, or for snuggling up under as you read The Quilts of Gee's Bend, which tells the story of the extraordinary quilts and women of Gee's Bend, Alabama. These women have been quilters for generations, and their unique fabric art is composed boldly and improvisationally in geometrics that transform recycled clothing and feed sacks.
