Description

Enjoy an afternoon learning to sail.  The lesson will be provided in a fourteen foot 2010 Pointer 14 sailboat that accommodates two adults.  The Pointer 14 sailboat is extremely simple for beginners to sail, yet is fun and exciting if desired.  You'll experience direct feedback, and will easily see how each action you take affects the boat.  With only one sail, the beginning sailor can focus on core concepts without being overwhelmed.

The lesson can take place on any local body of water that is suitable for a small sailboat.  Some options are Crystal Lake, Moore Reservoir, Joe's Pond or Harveys Lake.  Wind conditions of the day may favor certain lakes over others.

The lesson should be scheduled when the water is fairly warm, since there will be some exposure to water while sailing.  Mid June through early September is strongly recommended.  Arrangements may be made to have the lesson on a weekday or on the weekend.

A brief introduction will take place on land, followed by about two hours on the water.  Basic recreational concepts will be covered with the pace adjusted to the student's wishes and abilities.  The lesson will not cover intermediate or advanced concepts.

Please note that on a light wind day, certain concepts may be more difficult to demonstrate.  For the best experience, winds should be at least five knots, but not more than fifteen knots.  If the weather does not cooperate, I will be happy to reschedule to a better day.
