Marvel at this limited edition 15x18" color print of Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth, photographed on July 4, 1939 by George L. Waters.  Due to the timing of the photo and the use of color film, this is possibly the first and only photo of Lou Gehrig in a Yankees uniform with his teammate Babe Ruth.   On that day, Gehrig was honored at Lou Gehrig Appreciation Day at Yankee Stadium.  In his farewell speech, Gehrig spoke the immortal words, “I am the luckiest man on the face of the earth", the quote that is etched in brass on a commerative plate below the image.
