In 2010, Yosemite High School seniors were the proud recipients of 267 community awards totaling $143,000 presented Monday night at the YHS Performing Arts Theatre.

Deborah Siverly, community awards coordinator at YHS, said the dollar amount was $14,000 more than what was presented to the 2009 graduates.

"The businesses, individuals and organizations of our Mountain Area are fabulous," said Siverly. "Even in these tough economic times, everyone pulled together to support the deserving seniors and help further their education."

Awards are no more than $1,000 and the average award is $500.
