Areas of focus include middle school skills in reading, note - taking, studying, and test-taking strategies. In addition, students will receive instruction in all facets of the writing process, including brainstorming, outlining, writing, and revising their composition. This course will also expose students to CRISS (Creating Independence Through Student-Owned Strategies) strategies designed to help students organize and learn material in ways that best fit their individual learning styles. Students will also travel to FAU to participate in a half day L.I.F.T Challenge Ropes Course Program designed to explore problem solving, leadership and goal setting in middle school. University School students will also focus on logistical concerns such as building layout, how to navigate transitions between classes, and using lockers and textbooks.
