Description
I had a great garden this year, and did a lot of preserving over the summer and fall. I thought it might be fun to donate some home-preserved items. I promise I always follow safe kitchen methods. :-) Below is a description.
Homemade jam, jelly, hot sauce and syrup
All kinds of good stuff made entirely from my own garden and the gardens of neighbors and friends.
- Wild Plum Jelly
Juice from plums gathered from an old farmstead property on Boom Island (Minneapolis). - Grape and Wine Jelly
Grape jelly for grown-ups. Three parts juice from garden-grown Concord grapes and two parts red wine. Intensely flavorful, terrific paired with cheese. - Strawberry - Raspberry - Rhubarb Jam with Crystallized Ginger
My wee little harvest of berries, rounded out with rhubarb from my neighbor and a little minced crystallized ginger for extra punch. - Peach Simple Syrup
Peaches soaked and simmered in sugar for hours lend their flavor to this tasty syrup with a very subtle hint of cinnamon and cloves. Spoon over ice cream, cheesecake or French toast. Stir into plain yogurt. Sip with champagne or mix up a mojito. - Hell Toupee Hot Sauce
Like Tabasco, only awesome. Fiery hot cayenne peppers aged with vinegar and salt make pretty much everything better.
