Description
Six (6) 750ml bottles of 2009 Sonoma County Chardonnay.
The Vineyards
The Sonoma County Chardonnay showcases fruit from all over the county but, year after year, the Robert Young Vineyard in Alexander Valley makes a significant contribution to the final blend. For the 2008 Chardonnay, grapes were also sourced from Carneros, Russian River Valley, Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma Coast and Sonoma Valley. These are dynamic growing regions that offer a new set of variables with each vintage. With Chateau St. Jean’s Sonoma County wines, we look to make the most of these variables, seeking the best expression of Chardonnay from a particular vintage.
Winemaking
Classic winemaking techniques including barrel fermentation and five months of sur lie aging in small French and American oak barrels impart richness and complexity to the wine. The majority of the blend underwent malolactic fermentation.
Winetasting Comments
This classic Sonoma County Chardonnay offers inviting stone fruit aromas accented by notes of tropical fruit. The well-balanced acidity supports a core of pear and sweet melon and complements a creamy texture. The wine has a clean, refreshing finish.
