Artist’s Statement:

This small book is made of handmade paper in flax, cotton, and abaca.  To allow for irregular page sizes it is worked in colored linen thread using a special “five hole” binding with three stab holes plus “header and footer” acting as “wrapped holes.” Beyond the beauty of just creating small books, there is historical reference to the English gentleman’s practice of carrying a small “pocketbook” for special notes and calling cards.
