About Plowshare Produce:
After years of work on other farms, Micah and Bethany Spicher Schonberg are grateful for the opportunity to grow vegetables on Bethany’s parents’ land in Stone Valley, where her great-grandfather farmed with horses in the 1940’s.
Plowshare Produce is located in McAlevy's Fort, "The Heart of Stone Valley," along Route 26 - sixteen miles south of State College and sixteen miles north of Huntingdon.
How Bethany and Micah describe Community Supported Agriculture
"Farmers and eaters should know each other!"
Shareholders pay in the spring, and receive a weekly selection of the fresh-picked harvest all season long. Some of the benefits include:
- We raise your vegetables with sustainability and flavor in mind – not just “shippability.”
- You’re always welcome to visit the farm to see your food from seed to harvest!
- Your weekly bag of produce – with over 50 kinds of vegetables throughout the season – encourages healthy cooking and eating.
- Picking up your share or coming to a Plowshare Potluck are great opportunities to meet your neighbors.
- Your money stays in the local economy and benefits your community by sustaining a small, diversified family farm.
