Description

While most people are familiar with the architectural and historical beauty of Paris, not everyone is aware of how close we came to losing it. Although the Nazis ordered to "destroy all bridges over the Seine and devastate the city," it was only with a bit of quick thinking - and a lot of luck - that "La Ville-Lumiere" continued to shine on, barely blemished.

Led by ASP social studies teacher David Lynn, this customized tour for up to 10 people will walk you through the pages of history as we explore Paris, with a focus on the Nazi Occupation of 1940-1944.  We will pass by Les Invalides, the old German Embassy, Place de la Concorde, the Prefecture and dozens of monuments to heroes and martyrs of this time period.

The tour will last for four hours (with the possibility of extending it to six hours) and will include a rest stop for the famous hot chocolate at Angelina's.  This walking tour is scheduled for Sunday, 8 May 2011.
