Description

An unforgettable evening is in store for you and your guests at this swingin’ soiree. Internationally recognized diva of jazz and blues Lavay Smith comes to Haight Ashbury for a one-night engagement at an Urban family's historic home.  Fresh from her performance at the Governor’s Ball at the Academy Awards in Hollywood, Lavay is ready to deliver a sizzling set. Lavay is the vocalist and bandleader of the Red Hot Skillet Lickers, a truly swinging band. Hints of Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, Bessie Smith, Little Esther Phillips and other blues legends can be heard as Lavay belts out both classics and original compositions. Described as a sultry chanteuse with a modern, feminist twist, Lavay Smith is also the aunt of an Urban student. Hear some of her tunes at www.lavaysmith.com.  The evening’s culinary fare is guaranteed sensational, prepared as it is by celebrity chef – and Urban dad – Joey Altman. Yes, he trained under some of France’s finest chefs, but he honed his culinary style in San Francisco’s trend-setting restaurant scene, working at such foodie bastions as Stars and Miss Pearl’s Jam House. With Bay Café, a food-magazine TV show, as well as stints on the Food Network, Tasting Napa and others, Joey continues to entertain and educate gourmets all over the country. A blues guitarist himself, Joey is the perfect chef to craft the menu for this Jazz Supper Club experience for 20.  The date for this magical evening of food and jazz is Thursday, May 5, 2011 or another mutually agreeable date in May or September 2011 (Tuesday-Thursday, some Sundays).

This is a Live Event Item.
