Halpern & Johnson, March 29 - April 24, 2011
With warmth and candor, this award-winning drama explores the complex nuances of marriage and friendship, secrets and lies, mixing sharp human insight with crackling humor.  Veteran actor John McMurtry returns to Portland Stage in this revealing story about two very different men who share an unusual common bond: a half century of love for the same good woman.

The Syringa Tree, May 3 – May 22, 2011
A deeply evocative story about the abiding love between two families - one black, one white - that spans four generations of South Africans.  This "tour de force" for one actress brings twenty-four very different characters to vibrant life on stage, revealing not just the complexities of the world they share - their dreams, struggles, laughter and losses - but their shared humanity.
