Description
Includes:
- Tarot Grenache 2008 ($11): Bright ruby. An intensely floral nose features red berry preserves, rose, jasmine and candied licorice. Juicy and perfumed in the mouth, with a silky touch to the intense raspberry and floral pastille flavors. Youthfully fruity wine, with tangy acidity that needs a little time to harmonize with the primary fruit. The note of candied flowers carries through the long, sappy finish.
- "Yard Dog" Red ($12): The 2009 Tard Dog Red Blend is a unique mix of 60% Petit Verdo 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot. The color is purple with pink highlights around the edge of the glass. The nose is violets growing in a lumber yard. The mouth feel is silky, but slightly thin. The flavor is blackberry, dark chocolate and curry spice, there is some strawberry and leather in the mid-palate. A pretty good berry and spice finish.
- Elderton Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2008 ($14): Vivid ruby. Sexy, expressive bouquet of raspberry, blackberry and incense. Broad, palate-caressing red and dark berry flavors show impressive depth and clarity, with no rough edges or tannins in sight. Very appealing blend, with a fresh, open-knit fruit character and very good finishing persistence.
- Wishing Tree Shiraz 2007 ($12): Medium red color. Spicy black raspberry and cherry aromas are complemented by notes of white pepper and rose; smells a bit like a grenache. Gently sweet, fresh red and dark berry flavors are brisk and focused, displaying good back-end lift and energy. Finishes on a sweet blackberry note, with good clinging sweetness. This could handle a light chill.
