Description

This red wine sampler includes of one each bottle listed below:

  • Monte Volpe Primo Rosso 2007 California ($12):  This wine has a dark purple-garnet color, with jammy aromas and flavors of ripe blackberries, raspberries and plums. Rich full flavors, ripe tannins and a seamless balance that carries through a long, lingering finish. This enticing wine is for immediate enjoyment or one that will reward the patience of cellaring.

  • Oloroso Dulce Solera 1847  Spain ($18): Round and nutty, with mild floral and honey hints up front. The formula for Tio Pepe calls for a salty, crisp flavor profile with just enough complexity to thrust it into the upper echelon of finos. Slight mushroom and iodine notes appear on the finish.

  • Hey Mambo California Sultry Red 2008 ($12): A crowd-pleasing blend of attention-grabbing excitement, the Hey Mambo Sultry Red is undeniably a rare find. The 2008 vintage is an ensemble of Syrah, Barbera, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Malbec, and Alicante Bouchet grapes. This is a great complement to pasta in a simple marinara with fresh grated Parmesan, burgers with white Cheddar and apple wood smoked bacon, and a sure pick for your favorite pizza.

  • Mar del Sur Merlot Chile 2008 ($12):  The Pacific Ocean-Chile's Mar del Sur-blows a perpetual marine breeze over a region blessed with ideal conditions for winegrowing, exerting a cooling influence on the climate that allows grapes to ripen at ease and nurture fresh and fruit-froward wines.

  • The Red One 2009 South Australia ($11): An explosion of fruit, with a hint of spice and a mouthful of flavor.  56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Shiraz, 5% Barbera, 5% Trincadeira, 5% Tempranillo and 1% Nebbiolo.
