Description

This stunning glass vase was created by all of the children in the Yellow Orioles class.  The decoration of the vase was inspired by our Mammals Theme. The children learned the basic characteristics of mammals through lessons, activities and hands-on experiences.

Our main inspiration for this vase came during “Pp Week” when we discussed patterns we see on different mammals.  The children observed photographs of different mammals specifically with black and white patterns, such as cows, zebras, Dalmatian dogs, skunks, cats and rabbits.  We observed the beautiful patterns on each animal and noted how even though the same two colors were present, each mammal has its own unique appearance.

Each child participated in the decoration of the vase. They used black and white patterned pieces of tissue paper along with watered down glue to decoupage the glass vase.  They all worked carefully and attentively making sure that each piece of tissue paper was smooth and securely glued onto the vase.

The final product is absolutely beautiful, where all of the learning, love and effort that went into making this vase is what shines through. We are so proud of how well they worked together as a team on this project.
