Description
A personal favorite from...(ahem) let's say 29 years ago.
One of the most striking characteristics of Pippi Longstocking is her goofy – almost eccentric – behavior. She is very different from other kids her age. She wants things to be done her way and most times, like dedicated Flagstaff students, she goes to great lengths to make that happen.
Pippi is fun because she breaks with conventional ideas about how girls should behave — and also, perhaps, makes fun of adults’ gender roles in the process. Pippi lives alone with her monkey, Mr. Nilsson, and her horse, Old Man, in an old house named Villa Villekulla, located in a small Swedish village. What a great role model for Flagstaff girls. Be yourselves.
