"La Serena’s 2001 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Gemini presents a very dark color accompanied by masses of sweet, over-ripe fruit and toasted oak on a full-bodied frame. It offers excellent length and persistence on the palate, but the coarse tannins convey an impression of limited elegance. This is another case where the normal bottling was superb but the Riserva is overdone. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2016.
