Opened on July 4th, 1964, SSC started out as a fun, safe place where families could gather to socialize, play, and swim.  Through the years SSC has been a central part of neighborhood families summer.  It has always been a place where commitments of individuals and families are made for the benefit of the greater community.  That tradition continues today.  SSC is thriving, the Swim Team is thriving, and remarkably, the grandchildren of the original charter members are now the adult members committed to carry on the tradition.

SSC serves more than just our member families.  Other area pools use SSC when their pools are not available for various reasons (construction, pump failures, etc.).  Local churches have called to have visiting singing groups use the pool when in town providing refreshing respite for weary travelers on hot summer days.  Neighborhood high school athletes use the pool for swim & water polo practice and cross training (cross country uses it for aqua-jogging).  And on occasions, local service groups have asked SSC for the use of the parking lot for garage sales with the proceeds going to various charities.
