The Merry Kitchen, a brainchild of Julie Merry, was created after Julie's many years of success in teaching children to cook, offering classes and developing camps.  After realizing her dream, Julie began remodeling her home and opened a cooking school out of it in NE Portland.  Additional inspirations include cultivating a 2000 square foot garden in her backyard and teaching children how to grow, maintain and reap the benefits of an all organic garden. Compost is made and utilized from the scraps of the cooking classes.
