Upon the women's national team winning the FIFA Women's World Cup for the first time, Mia Hamm became the youngest American woman to win a World Cup championship at the age of nineteen.  Hamm has scored more international goals in her career than any other player, male or female, in the history of soccer. In 2007 she was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame.
