Description

THE GOSSEMBROT LABYRINTH

Labyrinths can be considered a metaphor for life’s journey.  We suggest following the path with your finger to pray, to  meditate, or to relieve stress.

Labyrinths are found in many cultures dating back to 1500 BC.  Unlike a maze, labyrinths have only a single path leading to the center with no ‘traps’.

The Gossembrot labyrinth has seven circuits with its turns based on a five pointed star and ‘doubled’ or four paths deep.  The original drawing is in an unpublished manuscript by Sigmund Gossembrot the Elder of Augsburg, ca. 1480.   There are few references to this pattern in modern times, and we hope you find it unique in your experience!

Includes a cloth carry bag for your convenience!

Special Instructions

This drawing was brought to my attention by Labyrinth Expert Ben Nicholson about a year ago..  It is found in the Kern book.

Paxworks introduced it in a walkable version on canvas at the Labyrinth Gathering in New Harmony last November.  The five spoked arrangement of doubled turns offers some interesting dynamics when it is walked by a group of persons.
