John Brekke is a mark-maker. The making of marks, lines, scratches, letters and strokes is central to his work and leads, only incidentally, to an area that is about light, tone and texture. The pictures are about a balance between the "micro"--as each mark has a value that is “weighed as it's made”--and the big picture, which crystallizes in the process of making the work.

 John Brekke is an American artist living in Brooklyn, NY.  His work is shown internationally and is included in a number of permanent collections.  He does paintings and drawings as well as blown glass.  John has worked on site specific installations and commissions for private clients.
