Patrick Townsend, winner of the American Design Club’s Breakables show as part of New York Design week 2010, has received a lot of buzz over his unique lighting fixtures. Craft Droplet 64 is the first of 41 limited edition chandeliers that are part of a continued exploration of the themes of tension and compression, both of which are underlying concepts in Townsend’s lighting design. Droplet 64 furthers this theme with the introduction of a substantial glass “bubble,” which appears at once heavy, yet weightless, impossibly suspended and endlessly reflected in the delicate web of lights.
