edison Osorio Zapata creates work that is derived from his own experience as a foreigner, as a Venezuelan by birth who has lived in Australia, Japan, and the United States for extended periods. Experiences of dislocation and assimilation inform his perspective as a foreigner and engender a sensitivity to issues of cultural difference especially communication.

 Zapata creates work that engages the viewer with mixed media and installations that capture the imprecise transfer of information between people from different walks of life, by using text and imagery.
