Robert Leonardi is experimenting with all kinds of media. His focus is on how the medium allows him to express certain elements of his life that are distinctive to his family and culture. He manipulates treasured objects into sculptures that no longer retain their original functionality.  For example, he stacks crystal and silver to create a totemic pyramid structure bound together with thin thread. His art is made up of memories, images and flashbacks that integrate meaningful parts of the environment of his childhood with the power of design, abstraction of color and sculptural form. Over time Robert Leonardi has begin to associate a specific form, medium, or space arrangement to a memory.  That is when the content and medium begin to come together and he can give form to my original inspiration.
